It's a Bird, It's a Plane!

Oh no, wait. That is a bird. It's an owl.

Today I decided to revisit  James Coffee Co. in Little Italy, San Diego. And boy, I'm glad I did.

There have been many improvements since this last time I swung by. I give this place a 5 out of 5 total points. Here's why.

Atmosphere: +1
A quick peek inside and you notice small shops selling their own goods. Sunglasses to your left. Clothes and other miscellaneous things to your right. Hm. Kind of resembles the OC Mix. Take a few more steps inside and you revel at the large, spacious open interior. The random pockets of light shining through the roof. Ambiance definitely got me in awe.

Guest service: +2
In the very center is a quaint kiosk with their espresso menu and a (limited) selection of baked goods. Behind the counters are very attentive and amiable baristas. She smiled, asked me how my day was going, and listened to me until I finished speaking. That is HUGE for me. It's surprising how lacking places are nowadays with grade A guest service.

Coffee: +1
Though I normally drink plain lattes, I've had both their Viennese (espresso, steamed milk, honey and cinnamon) and their Dulce (espresso, steamed milk, condensed milk, and nutmeg.) Both of which are delicious, down to the last sip.

Experience: +1
What really wins me over with this particular coffee shop is the size portions for their drinks. They offer a 5 oz, an 8 oz, or a 12 oz.  I'm not one to finish my drinks and sometimes a 12 oz.-er is just too much. I love the option for smaller drinks, ensuring I can start and finish my drink hot! I thoroughly enjoyed myself here in James Coffee Co. I already can't wait to go back.

Thanks for reading, guys.

H-h-how?

Hi guys, I think I'm going to try to post something at least once a day. Finals are quickly approaching and I'll do anything to keep me from studying...

Anyway, two fairly common questions that are asked of me:

(1) How do you find all these good places to eat?!
(2) How do you stay so slim and small even though you consume so much?!

To answer the former question, it's a combination of Yelp and Instagram. I try to follow those that also post food, but particularly those that live in the same area that I do. There aren't too many 'foodies' in San Diego, so I also follow those in Orange County and LA, creating bookmarks for later road trips. I especially love those that geotag their photos!! I can then pinpoint the proximity and reality of me visiting a certain location. On Yelp, I have the patience to scroll through hundreds of restaurants, cafes, and dessert stops. I base my decisions on photos primarily and read through tons of reviews.

The second question is both a matter of lifestyle and genetics. I'm a skinny, rather lanky, person because I inherited a fast metabolism from my father; couple that with running track&field in high school and you have a crazy boosted metabolism that won't let you put on a single pound. I figure it will all catch up to me later once I get older, but for now, I'll enjoy it. Besides, 'people who love to eat are always the best people.'

First Post

Hi, so, uh... Where do I begin? This is my first legitimate blog and my first legitimate blog post ~exciting~

I'm not entirely sure what compelled me to start a blog but I figured it would be a nice place to collect all my photos, thoughts, and reviews - kind of like a combination between Instagram, Tumblr and Yelp for lack of better terms.

So stay tuned my fellow carb lovers and chronic nose pickers!
